Structure and Strategy
Companies perform at their best when they have a clear picture of their future and a well-developed strategy to reach their goal. We have created a process that we work through with senior management to define and enable their corporate vision.
Stage 1: In a workshop setting, the senior managers define the purpose of their company's existence; identify the values they share regarding how they work; and set an overriding goal five to ten years in the future.
Stage 2: The senior managers formulate a battle plan. Starting with broad strategic objectives, they assess the internal resources and capabilities required to reach those objectives, engage in tactical planning, and assign detailed action plans for all members of the senior management team.
Stage 3: The senior management team creates an effective structure ensuring that responsibility and accountability for reaching the strategic objectives are appropriately assigned and clearly measureable, an essential element in the actual implementation of any strategy.
Stage 4: To support the implementation of the strategy, the senior management team examines the external environment in order to identify influencing factors; considers stakeholder requirements; incorporates key strategic elements; and factors in the various components of the value chain. Care is taken to re-integrate the work processes in order to avoid duplication of efforts or important things being left undone.
Stage 5: To build efficiency into the plans, we look at key business processes to see how work is being carried out and to identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements. Typically starting with a blank sheet of paper, we examine what the company is already doing as well as benchmark company structures from industry best practices and build this information into our overall recommendations.
